The Connecticut minimum wage is scheduled to increase to $15.00 per hour on June 1, 2023.

The New Jersey minimum salary for exempt employees is the same as the federal minimum salary which is currently $35,568 or $684 per week. Connecticut's minimum hourly rates increased to $14.00 per hour on July 1, 2022 and will go up to $15 an hour on June 1, 2023.

Employers are not obligated to let their employees carry over unused leave into the following year. Connecticut is a Use-It-or-Lose-It state. In a Use-It-or-Lose-It vacation policy, an employer doesn't pay employees for unused vacation leave at the end of the year.

Mercantile trade employers, which includes retail establishments, must pay employees for a minimum of four (4) hours at their regular rate regardless of the number of hours actually worked if the employees are required by or received permission from the employer to show up or report to work.

Exempt Employee Minimum Salary Starting January 1, 2023, the new minimum salary threshold is $796.17 per week, or $41,401 per year. In Massachusetts and New Hampshire this amount is $684 per week or $35,568 per year following the federal standard.

In 2023, the minimum salary threshold for the executive and administrative exemption for every part of New York state except New York City, Long Island and Westchester County will increase from $990 a week to $1,064.25 a week.

Executive Exemption The employment must customarily and regularly direct the work of two or more other employees. The employee must be paid a salary basis of $475.00 per week ($455.00 under FLSA).
