What was the original name of master guide?

Dixie Plata, veteran Master Guide and Pathfinder historian, set up the mobile Pathfinder Museum at the convention, with a special focus on Master Guide history. “100 years and we're still here and not in heaven,” Plata said, noting that the first Master Guide (then called Master Comrade) was invested in 1922.

The Master Guide Club (MGC) is a Seventh-‐day Adventist Church sponsored ministry open for baptized members ages 16 or older. It is intended to train them to serve and be effective leaders in the Adventurer, Pathfinder, Youth Ministries and church ministries.

Being a Master Guide grants you a responsibility more than status. The Master Guide ministry was developed to train and develop leaders for the Church and in specific, for youth ministry. Master Guides continues to be the highest level of Invested leadership within the Adventurer/ Pathfinder programs of the church.

The Master Guide is the expert, the advisor, the promoter for Adventurers and Pathfinders. As such, MG is NOT a Pathfinder program, it is a Youth Ministry Leadership Program. With one click, you can have one of the most current leadership development programs for youth ministry in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In 1927 a program for training the adult lay members of the church to minister to the youth of the church was officially approved. This program was named Master Comrade. The very first Master Comrade Investiture took place in 1931. Twenty years later, in 1951, the name was changed from Master Comrade to Master Guide.
