The Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ) is a survey technique whereby group members may describe the leadership behavior of designated leaders in formal organizations. LBDQ identified Initiating Structure and Consideration as two fundamental dimensions of leader behavior.

The LBDQ consists of 40 statements to measure the two factors. There are 15 statements for both Consideration and Initiation of Structure, while 10 statements are not scored concerning each factor. Each item is rated on a five-point Likert-type scale indicated by the frequency of committing the described behavior.

And each successful leader develops a style based on their own personality, goals, and business culture based on one of these three leadership styles: autocratic, democratic, and laissez-faire.
