Yes. College math is a lower math than college algebra.

College algebra is a transfer level algebra course offered at many California community colleges and CSU campuses and generally has a prerequisite of intermediate algebra.

You'll need to know the following topics in order to be prepared for College Algebra. Whole Numbers and Integers. Fractions and Decimals. Expressions and Equations. Geometry and Measurement. Probability and Statistics. Linear Equations and Functions. Systems of Equations and Word Problems. Exponents and Polynomials.

The test includes questions on basic algebraic operations; linear and quadratic equations, inequalities, and graphs; algebraic, exponential, and logarithmic functions; and miscellaneous other topics. It's assumed that test takers are familiar with currently taught algebraic vocabulary, symbols, and notation.

The College Algebra exam covers material that's usually taught in a one-semester college course in algebra. Nearly half the test is made up of routine problems requiring basic algebraic skills; the remainder involves solving nonroutine problems in which test takers must demonstrate their understanding of concepts.

The CLEP College Algebra is not difficult and, you can get a good score by planning and enough effort.

College Algebra covers the same material as Algebra I & II from high school. There may be heavier emphasis on topics pertinent to follow on math classes (statistics & calculus) but the material is largely the same.
