You should clean it after each use, but it will still function like a glock even without cleaning. It can shoot 10k rounds without a cleaning but i personally wouldn't do that.

First off, the large size parts of the handgun are all interchangeable. This includes the handgun frame as well as the Glock stock and the related slide. Second, a good number of the internal pieces can also be shared between certain Glock models, depending on the specific part.

The trigger pin has two grooves in it. Right to left means the slide stop doesn't have to jump a groove to be installed. That's the only pin where it really matters, otherwise the others can go either way.

The barrel, slide and receiver should last 150,000+ rounds. I've heard of Glock frames which have over 400,000 rounds through them and are still intact. Most people will never even come close to that. Age shouldn't have much of an effect, even over hundreds of years as long as it's not in extreme conditions.

In my experience the two parts most likely to break are the trigger spring and the slide lock spring. In fact, these are the only parts I have had break shooting Glocks. The slide lock springs in the 9mm Glocks used to be thinner and more prone to breakage, but they have beefed up that spring in recent years.

The GLOCK pistol is manufactured with only 34 component parts, significantly less than our competitors' semi-automatic pistol designs. Having fewer parts reduces the potential for technical problems, making GLOCK pistols more reliable.

A current production Glock 17 consists of 34 parts. For maintenance, the pistol disassembles into five main groups: the barrel, slide, frame, magazine, and recoil-spring assembly.

Recoil Spring Assembly: 3,000-4,000 rounds (Gen 1-3). ... Firing Pin Spring (striker): 15,000 rounds. Firing Pin Safety Spring: 15,000 rounds. Extractor Depressor Plunger Spring: 15,000 rounds. Magazine Catch Spring: 15,000 rounds.

The GLOCK pistol is manufactured with only 34 component parts, significantly less than our competitors' semi-automatic pistol designs. Having fewer parts reduces the potential for technical problems, making GLOCK pistols more reliable.

As a base starting point, Glock recommends that we change our recoil springs about every 5,000 or so rounds. Smaller guns, or those with hotter loads (like . 40 S&W or 10mm) may require more frequent changes.
