Ten days before the Mandatory Settlement Conference, both you and the other party must serve and file a Settlement Statement. Your statement must tell the court how settlement efforts are going.

The Hon. Robert S. Wada is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in 2017 by former governor Jerry Brown.

Currently, the Presiding Judge is Samantha P. Jessner and David W. Slayton is the Executive Officer/Clerk of Court. They, together with 583 judicial officers and 4,800 employees, operate the nearly 600 courtrooms throughout the county, with an annual budget of over $1 billion.

The purpose of a Mandatory Settlement Conference (or “MSC”) is to encourage parties in a , legal separation or nullity case to settle their matter in whole or in part. ingly, all parties must attend this court appearance.

The judges presiding over the MSC conferences and their locations are identified on the Court's website. In addition to the authors, the other judges in the program are: Judge Lisa Hart Cole, Judge James R. Dunn, Judge Edward A. Ferns and Judge Debre K.

A settlement conference is designed to get all parties to the lawsuit together to try and negotiate and resolve your case. If you were there in addition to the people you have sued, tempers would flare and everyone's objections, opinions and feelings would get in the way of having true negotiation discussions.

The Mandatory Settlement Conference At the MSC, both parties and their attorneys will meet with the settlement judge to try to come to a resolution of all contested issues. The settlement judge does not have the authority to make any rulings. They are there to facilitate the meeting and work toward resolution.
