To set up a giving tree in your office, attach tags in place of ornaments, each representing a charity or organization in need. Employees can select a tag from the tree and fill the stated need.

In 1979, one Virginia couple set out to find a way to help community members who were in a season of struggle, and the angel tree tradition was born.

The idea of the Angel Tree is as simple as it is good. You pick an angel off the tree, purchase the gifts listed on the Angel list and bring the gifts back to the tree, unwrapped. The Salvation Army then makes sure the gifts reach the children they are intended for, just in time for Christmas.

Local Salvation Army service centers accept applications for the Angel Tree program each year during the fall, typically from early September through mid-October.
