Is the Communication merit badge hard?

It's tough! Between giving presentations, conducting interviews, and creating written content, Communication is likely one of the most difficult merit badges a Scout can earn. Hardest Requirement: Communication doesn't have just one hard requirement — they're all difficult and require hands-on effort.

Scouts often ask if other instruments can be used, but a bugle, trumpet, or coronet are the only instruments officially allowed.

The in-person Aviation Merit Badge program allows Scouts to complete their requirements in an immersive aviation environment.

Write a plan for a backpacking trek of at least five days using at least three different campsites and covering at least 30 miles. Your plan must include a description of and route to the trek area, a schedule (including a daily schedule), a list of food and equipment needs, a safety and emergency plan, and a budget.

Earning the Backpacking merit badge will be demanding but rewarding! By using this pamphlet, Scouts will learn what equipment to carry on their backs and what knowledge to have in their heads. Scouts will also discover how to protect the environment by traveling and camping without leaving a trace.

Many of these badges, like Archery, First Aid and Swimming, are still offered today. But the Invention merit badge never seemed to find popularity. No Scouts earned the badge in 1911 or 1912. One Scout earned it in 1913, eight in 1914 and one more in 1915.

To earn the Exploration merit badge, a Scout must understand the importance of exploration, participate in a real-life exploration, and plan for an expedition. The most time-consuming, but most fun, part of earning this merit badge (in our opinion) will be conducting the expedition.

The 3 simplest merit badges that any Scout can earn are Art, Fingerprinting, and Photography. These badges require few supplies and can be quickly completed in an afternoon.
