Once certified as an Advanced Open Water Diver, you'll be trained to dive to a maximum depth of up to 30 meters (100 feet).

Advanced Open Water Diver (AOWD) is a recreational scuba diving certification level provided by several diver training agencies. Agencies offering this level of training under this title include Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), and Scuba Schools International (SSI).

To be certified as a SSI AOWD one needs to have completed four specialty courses and minimum of 24 logged dives. In the absence of a logged dives requirement, it is possible to become certified as AOW with some other agencies while having less than 10 lifetime dives.

The open water course includes four open water dives in total, usually done over two days. With your instructor by your side, you'll practice the skills you learned in confined water, and explore the underwater world.

The Advanced course takes a minimum of two days and consists of five PADI Adventure dives.

The PADI Advanced Open Water course consists of five dives, which are typically completed over two to three days. Two dives (deep and navigation) are required. The other three dives are up to you and your instructor to decide. These can be done consecutively or spread out at different times and/or locations.

So Why Should you do the Advanced Open Water? In simple terms, it will make you a more experienced & better diver and ultimately safer. It will also give you a taste of the other types of diving so is a lot of fun and adventure. You'll also be qualified to dive to 30m versus 18m for open water divers.

In comparison to open water diving, advanced open water diving is a PADI course you can take after completing the PADI Open Water Diver Certification. The advanced open water diver course takes your diving knowledge and skills to the next level.
