What is DSSR?

The Department of State Standardized Regulations (DSSR) are maintained by the Office of Allowances within the U.S. Department of State.

Post Allowance (DSSR 220 and DSSR 960 Omnibus Exhibit): Commonly referred to as the "cost-of-living" allowance (COLA), this is an allowance based on a percentage of "spendable income," i.e. money you can really put your hands on to spend on goods and services.

For those employees who qualify, the flat amounts (no itemization; no receipts required) for a two-zone transfer are: $700 for an employee without family; $1,150 for an employee with one family member; and $1,500 for an employee with two or more family members. For more information, see DSSR 242.2.
