WHO MUST FILE? DOMESTIC CORPORATIONS – Corporations organized under the laws of Louisiana must file an income and franchise tax return (Form CIFT-620) each year unless exempt from both taxes.

Filing an Amended Return In order to amend the amounts reported for the computation of income or franchise taxes, you must file an amended (corrected) Form CIFT-620.

INSTRUCTIONS: LOUISIANA CORPORATION INCOME AND FRANCHISE TAX RETURN (Form CIFT-620) Corporations operating in Louisiana can use a form CIFT-620 in order to file their income and franchise taxes owed to the state. The document can be obtained from the website of the Louisiana Department of Revenue.

Individuals who are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) may be able to receive a refund of more than $10,000. “If you are low-to-moderate income and worked, you may be eligible for the Federal and State of California Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC).

Effective for franchise tax periods beginning on or after January 1, 2023, Act 389 reduced the tax rate to a single rate of $2.75 for each $1,000, or major fraction thereof in excess of $300,000 of capital employed in Louisiana.

The amount of Louisiana franchise tax is computed on Form CIFT-620, Schedule F. In the case of a return for part of the year other than the initial or final return, the franchise tax due shall be prorated. To calculate the tax due, the tax for a full year is computed and multiplied by a ratio.
