Form 8962 for tax credits If you bought your health insurance from the Marketplace, you will file Form 8962 with your tax return. The ACA law includes a special Premium Tax Credit to help certain people pay the costs of health insurance, and Form 8962 relates to that credit.

Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit If you had Marketplace insurance and used premium tax credits to lower your monthly payment, you must file this health insurance tax form with your federal income tax return. You'll use this form to “reconcile” — to find out if you used more or less premium tax credit than you qualify for.

The standard deduction for seniors this year is actually the 2022 amount, filed by April 2023. For the 2022 tax year, seniors filing single or married filing separately get a standard deduction of $14,700. For those who are married and filing jointly, the standard deduction for 65 and older is $25,900.
