The Chicago Picasso became and continues to be a well-known meeting spot for Chicagoans. Depending on the season and time of the month, there are musical performances, farmers' markets, a Christkindlmarkt, and other Chicago affairs which are held around the Picasso in Daley Plaza.

The Bean is a work of public art in the heart of Chicago. The sculpture, which is officially titled Cloud Gate, is one of the world's largest permanent outdoor art installations. The monumental work was unveiled in 2004 and quickly became of the Chicago's most iconic sights.

Many wonder what the 50-foot tall, 162-ton sculpture is meant to emulate. Some think the figure is a long-necked, high-ponytailed woman inspired by Picasso's muse Sylvette David. However, the sculpture has also been likened to the jackal-headed god, Anubis, an afghan hound, and even a cow sticking out its tongue.

The dedication of the huge sculpture by Pablo Picasso in 1967 confirmed that Chicago was a city for the arts. Since then, major works by Alexander Calder, Sir Anthony Caro, Sol LeWitt, Richard Hunt, and Ellen Lanyon, among others, have been added to this free open-air museum.
