The APL number can range from 8 to 11 characters including prefixes and suffixes. HM&E APLs are used to identify the maintenance significant items for HM&E systems and equipment.

A RIC is a code assigned to uniquely identify a particular commodity. A Repairable_part is identified by a Repairable Item Code (RIC) and is related to the Logistics_occurrence for a piece of equipment.

The EIC (Equipment Identification Code) is a seven-digit alpha/numeric combination that identifies the desired breakdown of a piece of equipment or unit. The APL (Allowance Parts List) number is an 8- to 11-digit number that identifies the parts list of a piece of equipment or component.
