How to fill out the Citizenship Checklist online
The Citizenship Checklist is an essential document for individuals applying for a citizenship certificate. This guide provides a clear and concise overview of how to complete the checklist online, ensuring that users feel supported throughout the process.
Follow the steps to complete the Citizenship Checklist online
- Press the ‘Get Form’ button to access the Citizenship Checklist and open it in your preferred online editing tool.
- Review the checklist to understand the required documents. You need to gather items such as your completed, signed, and dated Application for a Citizenship Certificate (CIT 0001), along with identity and immigration documents.
- If you are applying for your first citizenship certificate, include original documents or clear certified copies. For a replacement certificate, ensure you provide clear photocopies.
- If any of your supporting documents are not in English or French, obtain photocopies of the original documents, a certified translation, and an affidavit from the translator. Note that translations from family members are not acceptable.
- Ensure that you have two citizenship photos. Adults and children aged 14 years and older should sign their name in black or blue ink on the white signature area below each photo. For children under 14, leave the signature strip blank and print the child's name on the back of each photo.
- Place both signed photos in an envelope. Do not staple, glue, or attach the photos directly to the application.
- For applicants in Canada, include a Copy 2 of the Receipt form showing the payment amount. Remember, no other payment methods are acceptable.
- If applying from outside Canada, contact the nearest Canadian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate for details on fees and accepted payment methods. Ensure the processing fee is paid prior to submitting your application.
- Lastly, include this Document Checklist (CIT 0460) with your application.
- In Canada, address the envelope with proper postage to the Case Processing Centre, Sydney - Proofs, Box 10000, Sydney (NS), B1P 7C1. If outside Canada, send to the nearest Canadian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate.
