Washington JuCR 7.7 ORA Attachment A - Sex Offender, Kidnapping Registration Requirements

Level 1. These offenders present the lowest possible risk to the community and their likelihood to re-offend is considered minimal. They normally have not exhibited predatory type characteristics and most have successfully participated or are participating in approved treatment programs. Many are first time offenders.

Sex offenders are juveniles or adults who have committed a Class A, Class B, Class C felony or some gross misdemeanors and are required to register for life, fifteen years, and ten years, respectively. Registration laws are covered in RCW 9A. 44.130.

In Washington state, people who meet the eligibility requirements and file a petition can earn relief from the sex offender registry. Most people on the sex offender registry can petition for relief after 10 years, provided they have not been convicted of any other crimes since that time.

Sex offenders and kidnapping offenders who are visiting Washington state and intend to reside or be present in the state for ten days or more shall register his or her temporary address or where he or she plans to stay with the county sheriff of each county where the offender will be staying within three business days
