The prevailing wage is the typical benefits, hourly wages and amount of overtime pay that can be obtained by certain sets of workers in certain areas across the country.

"Full time equivalent active employees" means any employee of an eligible company who (1) works a minimum of 30 hours per week within the State, or two or more part-time employees whose combined weekly hours equal or exceed 30 hours per week within the State and (2) earns no less than 150% of the hourly minimum wage

Generally, under Rhode Island law, employees who work on Sundays and holidays must be paid at least one and one-half times the normal rate of pay. Employees cannot be discharged or otherwise penalized for refusing to work on a Sunday or holiday.

Overtime. Rhode Island labor laws require an employer to pay overtime to employees, unless otherwise exempt, at the rate of 1½ times the employee's regular rate of pay for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek.

What are the law's basic requirements? The Act requires employers with 18 or more employees to allow employees to accrue at least one hour of paid sick leave for every 35 hours worked, up to 24 hours in 2018. The maximum amount of leave will increase to 32 hours in 2019 and 40 hours in 2020 and subsequent years.

Prevailing Wage refers to the requirements of the Rhode Island General Law 37-13 and the general prevailing rate of pay for regular, holiday and overtime wages to be paid to each craftsmen, mechanic, teamster, laborer or other type of worker performing work on public works projects when state or municipal funds are

If you're 16 or 17, you cannot work: More than 48 hours per week. More than 9 hours per day (or 9 3/5 hours per day for a 5-day work week).

Beginning October 1, 2020, the minimum wage that employers must pay Rhode Island employees increases to $11.50 per hour.
