Description Michigan State Transfer Tax

This Application for Real Estate Transfer Tax Refund is to be used for the state of Michigan (SRETT). This form is used when a transfer tax is paid but it is later determined that the transfer was exempt. When a seller pays the state real estate transfer tax to the Register of Deeds and then later determines that the sale (transfer) of the real property was exempt from the SRETT, the Michigan Department of Treasury will process an application for a refund of the SRETT.
