When an order of protection starts, it is possible to drop it based on certain circumstances, but the judge or another judge will still need to evaluate the situation.There is usually sufficient evidence given to the judge so he or she may ensure the safety of the individual.

A PFA can remain in effect for up to three years.

The protective provisions of a PFA order by consent, default or after a full hearing can last up to 2 years and sometimes longer. How Long Is the Order Effective? A temporary order is usually in effect until a final order is issued. A final order usually does not extend beyond two years, although there are exceptions if the judge sees fit.

In Pennsylvania, a PFA order from a court gives protective relief for a victim (and sometimes their children) for a period of up to three years (for final orders).

If a person violates a no contact orders, he or she can face serious consequences.
