Nongame fishing permits and tags are required, in addition to a valid South Carolina recreational fishing license (also applies to youth under 16), to use the following devices for recreational purposes: up to 1 trotline with not more than 50 hooks. not more than 50 set hooks.

You can catch fish with a line attached to a fishing pole. When the water isn't frozen, you must use only one fishing pole. When the water is frozen, you can use two lines, which don't have to be attached to a fishing pole. Regardless of the time of year, if your line is in the water you have to be right there.

Fishing With More than One Pole. (1) A person may use up to two fishing poles to take fish on all waters open to fishing, provided they possess an unexpired fishing or combination license, except as provided in Subsection (2) below.

Two-Rod Validation: Allows a licensed angler to use: Two rods or lines while angling in standing water bodies such as lakes, ponds and reservoirs, including Snake River impoundments above Hells Canyon Dam. Five rods or lines only when ice fishing.

Most states in the USA allow licensed anglers to fish with two rods at a time. However, in some places like Minnesota, anglers can use only one rod while open water fishing.

A setline permit is a 365-day permit. If you are 12 or older, you must also have an unexpired three-day, seven-day, 365-day or multi-year Utah fishing or combination license in order to use a setline permit.
