Insert Title For Free

Use headers and footers to add a title, date, or page numbers to every page in a document. Select Insert > Header or Footer. Select one of the built in designs. Type the text you want in the header or footer.

Go to File > Info > Properties > Title. Click Add a title and paste your Heading 1 into the textbox. Or, type in an easy-to-read title for your document.

Add a standard or customized header or footerGo to Insert > Header or Footer.Choose from a list of standard headers or footers, go to the list of Header or Footer options, and select the header or footer that you want.When you're done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.

Make sure that your long table is actually a single table. If it is not, then the header row won't repeat because the table doesn't really extend beyond a single page.multiple tables is to click somewhere within the table. Then, from the Layout tab of the ribbon, use the Select drop-down list to choose Table.

Hover the mouse over the top or bottom edge of any page until Word displays the white space arrows. Then, double-click the edge and Word will hide the header (and footer) and the white space.Uncheck the Show White Space Between Pages in Page Layout View option. Click OK.

Add a headingSelect the text you want to use as a heading.On the Home tab, move the pointer over different headings in the Styles gallery. Notice as you pause over each style, your text will change so you can see how it will look in your document. Click the heading style you want to use.

Open the header in the first chapter. Go to References > Captions > Cross-reference. Select Heading from the menu as your reference type. Pick the relevant chapter title and click Insert.
