Under Type, make sure that Text is selected in the drop-down menu. To sort from A-Z, click the Ascending radio button or Descending to sort your text from Z to A. Click OK to alphabetize your text with the options selected.

When you have finished typing text, press CTRL+Z, and then press ENTER. The sort command displays the text you typed, sorted alphabetically.

On the NotePad tab, select the row numbers of the rows you want to sort. Click Sort on the speedbar.To sort the highest number or the end of the alphabet first, select Descending. If you want to do a multilevel sort, select the next column you want to sort by, then select either Ascending or Descending.

To get a dictionary sort (a-z), use the menu option Edit -> Line operations -> Sort lines lexicographically. There are two versions - ascending and descending. There are some other types of sorts as well, where it tries to convert the selected lines to numbers first before sorting.

Although there's no straightforward way to sort a text file, we can achieve the same net result by doing the following: 1) Use the FileSystemObject to read the file into memory; 2) Sort the file alphabetically in memory; 3) Replace the existing contents of the file with the sorted data we have in memory.
