If you want to move from Germany to the UK, you will need to apply for a visa. You can move to the UK for work, to reunite with family or to study.

If an EU national is applying for settled status for them and their children, birth certificates are already accepted as proof of the child's identity for the purposes of the application: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/eu-settlement-scheme-evidence-of-relationship-to-an-eu-citizen.

When you apply for your child you can 'link' their application to yours. This means that if your own application is successful, your child will usually get the same status as you. To do this, select the option to apply 'using your parent's residence', then enter your application number.

To apply, you need to be an EU citizen or a non-EU family member of an EU citizen and you need to be living in the UK by 31 December 2020. If you have been living in the UK for more than five continuous years at the point when you apply then you will be eligible for settled status.

You will be eligible for pre settled status if you are resident in the UK by 31 December 2020, in the event of a deal, or by the date the UK leaves the EU without a deal and you have not yet accrued five years' continuous residence.

Pre-Settled Status is the immigration status granted under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) to European citizens (by this we mean EU, EEA or Swiss citizens) and their non-European family members who have not yet lived in the UK for a continuous 5-year period at any point in the past.

If you are already living in the UK before the end of the transition period, you fall under the withdrawal agreement. You can also bring children born after the transition period to the UK, along with family members with whom your relationship began before the transition period ends.
