Licensed Social Work Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC) – You'll need to earn this license if you want to become an LICSW. The LSWAIC allows you to gain the supervised experience needed to become an LICSW.

Supervised postgraduate experience One thousand hours must be in direct client contact supervised by a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW).

There are four different kinds of social work licenses in Washington: Licensed Social Work Associate & Independent Clinical (LSWAIC), Licensed Social Work Associate & Advanced (LSWAA), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and Licensed Advanced Social Worker (LASW).
