Take note of the following: Refunds can take up to 15 working days to be reflected in your account. NSFAS allowances will be processed twice a month, in the first and the third week of each month.

To claim a refund, you will need to fill out a refund form. The form must be stamped at the bank and completed with a valid bank account, registered under your ID number. Email the form to refunds@nsfas.org.za. Kindly note that your refund will be paid out within 21 days of having received the verified refund form.

Refunds. Requests have to be made in writing and must be signed by the registered student. Refunds will be processed within 15 working (business) days from receipt of request. Credit balances exceeding the total study fees paid by sponsors or bursaries will be refunded to the sponsor or bursary concerned.

In order to claim a pay-out, you have to complete the Pay-out/Refund form obtainable at the Student Service Centre (cashiers section) or print it from the University's website at .up.ac.za/feesfunding.

Refund credit amounts on receipt of completed forms accompanied by the following supporting documents: ​​a certified copy of identification; a confirmation of banking details from the bank, bank statement or cancelled cheque; and. if applicable, a letter of consent by the sponsor, employer or parent ​​

All NSFAS-funded students who pay the minimum registration amount to activate their registration will be refunded. A refund will only be processed once NSFAS has confirmed successful processing of registration data to Unisa. An application for a refund is not necessary.
