FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 25, 2005
JACKSON, MS - Attorney and U.S. Legal Forms CEO Frank D. Edens will address many questions individuals ask when establishing an Advanced Health Care Directive at a one-day seminar being sponsored by the AseraCare Hospice in Jackson. The seminar will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2005. Admission is free and the general public is invited to attend.
The term "living will" has been widely publicized in recent months with coverage of the Terri Schiavo controversy. Living Wills are commonly used to state whether or not patients want to be kept alive on life support. In Mississippi, the instrument to effectuate this intent is now called an Advanced Health Care Directive.
"An Advanced Health Care Directive allows you to name a person to make health care decisions for you, and may include what medical treatment you desire if you are facing a terminal illness," said U.S. Legal Forms CEO Frank D. Edens. "Having expressed your desires in writing for what you want in terms of medical treatment will keep your loved ones from having to make these difficult decisions for you."
In Mississippi, the Advanced Health Care Directive includes a durable power of attorney for healthcare. A durable power of attorney for healthcare allows a person whom you designate to make virtually all medical decisions on your behalf if you are unable to do so.
Edens will address these topics and more at the AseraCare Advanced Directive Seminar. It will take place from 11a.m. to 1p.m. on July 28th at the Jackson Medical Mall Thad Cochran Center near Center Stage. Representatives from U.S. Legal Forms and AseraCare Hospice will be on hand to answer questions and distribute literature.
